The Floating Substitute Teacher provides temporary classroom instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher. This role involves supporting learning in different classrooms and grades as needed, ensuring continuity of learning and maintaining a positive classroom environment.
Your duties
Key Responsibilities:

- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to ensure consistent delivery of the curriculum
- Adapt and modify lesson plans as necessary to meet the needs of different classrooms and student groups
- Provide instruction in various subjects and grade levels, adjusting teaching strategies to fit the class requirements
- Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment by managing student behaviour effectively
- Implement the school's discipline policies and procedures
- Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
- Assist students with their learning by providing guidance, support, and encouragement
- Address any immediate academic or behavioral concerns in a timely and appropriate manner
- Promote a respectful and collaborative classroom culture
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators
- Provide feedback to the regular teacher on student progress and any issues that arose during their absence
- Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to support student learning and well-being
- Arrive on time and prepared for each assignment
- Dress appropriately and maintain a professional demeanour at all times
- Respect the confidentiality of student information and school matters
- Be prepared to work in different classrooms and grade levels on short notice
- Adapt to varying teaching environments and student needs
- Remain flexible and willing to take on new assignments as required
- Take attendance and complete any required administrative tasks
- Ensure classroom materials and resources are used responsibly and left in good condition
- Follow school procedures for reporting accidents, incidents, or concerns
Your profile
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (preferred)
- Valid teaching credential or certification (preferred)
- Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience
- Strong classroom management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
