- Assesses students formally and informally to gauge language development and recommend language support
- Teaches students using appropriate and motivating materials. Student contact based on need and is either pull-out or in-class support
- Provides on-going and timely feedback (academic progress, social/personal, etc.) to individual students, teachers and parents. Provides regular opportunities to liaise with parents and class teachers to discuss student progress
- Provides a point of contact for teachers to discuss students with developing English language skills
- Assists classroom and single subject teachers to implement strategies to match the needs of English Language Learners
- Collaborates in the planning process with teachers to provide for student needs and provides materials to support homeroom teachers as needed
- Team teaches with homeroom teachers to ensure that student needs are met in the classroom
- Attends faculty meetings, in-service meetings, grade level meetings, or department meetings as required under the BIS Staff Working Agreements
- Collaborates as part of the instructional team to discuss students and review the quality of the services offered at BIS
- Facilitates professional development in areas related to English language development, formally and informally
- Manages class scheduling according to student needs in agreement with leadership and teachers
